SVA Contemporary practices residency
Walking and navigating natural environments are an integral part of my process. I research by playing, socializing myself within new or familiar environments where i collect imagery, experiences, sounds, and materials. Accumulations of objects, moments and experiences direct my decision making as I find and converse materials that appear along the way. Through this intuitive process I emphasize abstracted relations to my immediate environment while focusing on the relationship of horizon lines, symbols and signals within the present moment. This process has guided me to integrate natural light as a key component of mark making brining a new way to interact with the installations I create. light takes form, so viewers are able to interact in a nondestructive way that is engaging- creating moments of full presence in their surrounding environments. Themes like Passing of time, seasons, and metamorphosis take shape due to the change perceived during the happening of these experiences.
